History of Trinity

The Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, OH came to Brenham in 1931 in response to a request for administrative services at the Brenham Hospital and Clinic, located on Academy Street. In 1935, the Sisters purchased the facility and changed its name to St. Francis Hospital. A new hospital was constructed in 1954 on North Park Street, and its name was changed to St. Jude Hospital.

In the meantime, Sarah B. Milroy Hospital was also established in Brenham on West Main Street. That hospital's name was changed in 1974 to Bohne Memorial Hospital (in honor of the Bohne family, which made a large contribution toward the construction project) with the construction of a new building on Medical Parkway.

In 1989, St. Jude and Bohne Memorial merged, and Trinity Medical Center was created. Today it remains under the sponsorship of the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, Ohio.
